Methanex job losses a blow to Govt’s gas plans

Comment: Last week’s announcement that Methanex – New Zealand’s biggest gas user – is moving to operating only one of its three plants for the foreseeable future is a massive blow for about 70 workers facing possible redundancy, their families and the whole community.
It also indicates the Government’s bid to encourage new offshore exploration will fail.
